FOS2

Fiber Optic Transmission System

Digital transmission of analog signals from DC up to 20 kHz converted at a sampling rate of 100 kHz

FOsystem FOS2

Principle of Operation

The transmission system consists of the following components:

  • Transmitter
  • Optical fiber
  • Receiver

The battery-operated transmitter unit converts the pre-processed analog signals into a serial 12-Bit-signal with 100 kHz sampling rate, which modulates the infrared light emitted by the transmitter diode. This digitally modulated light is transmitted via the optical fiber to the receiver, which converts the optical signals back to analog signal (+/-10 V). An insufficient optical level (violation of the upper or lower limit of the dynamic range) is detected and indicated.
