  • November 2008: Construction of Power Diagnostix new Office building started!

New Office Due to steady growth, the space offered by the current building at Vaalser Strasse, increasingly limits further expansion. Thus, in early 2007 decision was made to again erect a new building. As of November 2008, the construction started and moving to the new site is planned for end of 2009. The new office building, a six-story solitaire of 26m height, offers more than 2000m² space and will greatly improve our possibilities. The new location is less than 2km away from Power Diagnostix' current address. .

  • August 2008: ICMpanel

ICMpanel The ICMpanel is a stand-alone partial discharge detector for evaluating the condition of medium and high voltage insulation. It comprises of a touch panel computer which can be optionally controlled by a keyboard / mouse. For the common use the touch-panel offers five control buttons and a two dimensional PD pattern. For in depth analysis a software can be started which also offers a three dimensional PD pattern and further data processing and recording.

  • August 2008: Advanced Fiber Optic Transmission System

FOS4 The Advanced Fiber Optic Transmission System (FOS 4) comprises of FOT4 transmitter units and FOR4D receiver units. Each channel acts as an independent transient recorder with its own storage and settable acquisition speed and storage depth. The sampling rate is 10Msample / second and, hence, sufficient to even acquire the pointing vector of the incoming acoustic wave, when using two dimensional three-sensor configuration. The modular system accepts up to twelve optical channels and comes with high-speed controller card to communicate with a notebook. Here, the ICMacoustic software offers full control of the system. Besides this, the FOS4 system has additional signal output on the rear side and can be used as a digital isolated amplifier without the use of any software.

  • February 2008: ICMacoustic Software

ICMacoustic The ICMacoustic software is designed for the acoustic location of transformer partial discharge with the triangulation method. The basic idea is to reduce the location to a "flat problem". I.e., to horizontally position three sensors on a line to firstly get the horizontal position of the layer (see upper graph of the software's measurement panel, left). Here, the position of the sensors are entered and assigned to their channel. In a second step the sensors are placed on a vertical line at the found vertical position. In the lower graphs the sensor positions are entered accordingly.

  • May 2007: ICM®flex Tan Delta and PD measurement on HV potential via Bluetooth communication

ICMflex The newly introduced ICM®flex high voltage instrument family offers inherent operator safety and greatly simplifies distribution class cable testing and other field tasks involving partial discharge and tan δ testing. With the unique concept of the ICM®flex instruments the entire acquisition hardware is placed on high voltage potential right at the position where the signals are. Thus, no signal cables are needed, as the instrument is fully self-contained and battery operated. The instruments are fully remote controlled via high speed Bluetooth® communication.

  • November 2006: SPECmonitor PD monitoring with selectable measurement frequency

SPECmonitor The SPECmonitor is a partial discharge analyzer comprising a spectrum analyzer, an acoustic detector, and a conventional partial discharge (PD) monitor in one instrument. This combination enables PD measurements even with a large background noise e.g. on power transformer within substations or power plants. Observing the frequency spectrum of a harshly disturbed PD signal allows to select frequency bands with less disturbances. Using this selected frequency for a PD acquisition, gives a largely improved signal-to-noise ratio resulting in a clear pattern acquisition. The combination of spectrum analyzer and PD detector within one instrument greatly expands the measurement possibilities when analyzing the insulation systems in a noisy environment.

  • May 2006: RIVmeter stand alone instrument

RIVmeter The RIVmeteris an instrument for the measurement of 'Radio Influence Voltage' according to NEMA 107-1987 and other relevant standards. The instrument has a bandwidth of 9 kHz and a tunable center frequency of 600-1300 kHz. Technically, the RIVmeter is a selective µV-meter. However, the meter reading is weighted according to the CISPRE weighting curve, whereas the repetition rate has a strong impact on the reading. The RIVmeter is an ideal instrument to replace outdated RIV measurement instruments in a transformer testing lab.

  • Dec. 2005: SPECcompact combines spectrum analysis and partial discharge measurement

SPECcompact The SPECcompactcomprises a spectrum analyzer, a partial discharge (PD) detector and an RIV meter in one instrument. This combination enables PD measurements even with a large background noise e.g. in non-shielded test areas.

  • April 2005: RIV Measurement Option for the ICMsystem or ICMsys8

ICMsystem with RIV Option This new option allows parallel PD measurement in pC and in µV with the ICMsystem or ICMsys8.

  • June 2004: Battery option for ICMcompact and AIAcompact and infrared synchronization

Battery driven instrument The new cordless option for the ICMcompact and AIAcompact enables full flexibility during on-site measurements and field tests. The built-in charger allows 3 hours independent operation. An additional box sending an infrared synchronization signal provides the instrument with the correct phase information.

  • Jan. 2004: Certified calibration laboratory

DKD Certificate By end of December 2003, the calibration laboratory of Power Diagnostix received the accreditation as calibration laboratory within DKD (Deutscher Kalibrierdienst). The audit for the accreditation was held by 'Physikalisch Technische Bundesanstalt' (PTB), the German authority of standards. Power Diagnostix calibration laboratory received the accreditation for impulse charge (pC), AC and DC voltages, as well as impulse timing parameters. Thus, Power Diagnostix is able to issue calibration certificates traceable to international standards.

  • Nov. 2003: TDAcompact: tan δ measurement instrument

TDAcompact The TDAcompact is a portable capacitance and tan δ analyzer. The focus of the instrument's application is on the analysis of the epoxy-mica insulation of rotating machines. Besides this, the unit is applicable for oil-paper insulation systems and especially for mass-impregnated cables.
    Product Information TDAcompact

  • Oct. 2003: AIAcompact combines acoustic and UHF PD measurement

AIAcompact The AIAcompact is a portable unit for in-service acoustic partial discharge measurements on gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), transformers, and cable accessories. The instrument adapts to a variety of piezo-electric acoustic sensors and is supplied with a versatile sensor fixture. Additionally, the AIAcompact allows optionally partial discharge measurements on embedded or external UHF sensors.

  • Resellers and Agents wanted

We are looking for further companies and individuals to represent Power Diagnostix. Experience in the field of partial discharge testing and a well-established market access is a must. Service groups and maintenance firms providing service in the utility market are welcome as well. Please contact Power Diagnostix for details.

  • Calibration service

Re-calibration of the calibration impulse generators ensures the required tracability of your measurements. A calibrator received for re-calibration will be shipped within few days. This service is offered at a very competitive price. Also, an annual routine check for the instruments is offered.

  • Hardware & Software Upgrade Packages

Existing instruments of the ICM product range (ICMsystem, ICMcompact, and ICMmonitor) can be upgraded to the current firmware providing access to the recent improvements. Enhanced communication properties, built-in modems, gating circuits and much more is covered by these hardware upgrades. The graphical user interfaces (GUI) for the instruments are completely re-written to run under Windows 2000, XP, or Vista. They offer several new features, such as consecutive measurements, modem support, and improved printing, for example. Ask for a permanent download access to keep track of the ongoing improvements of our software. Please contact Power Diagnostix for detailed information.
